Join Lily Cushman for a special evening celebrating Hanuman Jayanti with call and response chanting in Berkeley, California at 4th Street Yoga. Hanuman Jayanti is the celebration of the birth of the monkey god, Hanuman, whom is considered to be the embodiment of service, courage and devotion in the Hindu pantheon. We will be chanting mantras and prayers on this auspicious evening to celebrate Hanuman-ji and also awaken these same qualities in our own hearts and minds. Lily is joined by Jerry Radhanath on Mridanga, Genevieve Walker on violin, and Srutih on Manjiras.
This evening will be LIVESTREAMED on facebook for anyone who would like to participate virtually.
Fundraiser Details
This event is a fundraiser for the new Neem Karoli Baba Ashram in Taos, NM which is currently raising funds to complete the construction of its brand new Hanuman Temple. Maharaj-ji’s Taos ashram was established over forty years ago as a humble and informal gathering place for devotees to remember this great saint, to share stories and food, and to enjoy the company of satsang (community).
As Maharaj-ji’s teachings and Hanuman’s example of unconditional love and seva spreads, the temple has become a place of pilgrimage for many hundreds of devotees and visitors who come for darshan and to participate with satsang in service. They have outgrown the small multi-use space and it is no longer functional in meeting the community’s needs. The new temple will allow space for all who wish to chant and worship together.
